Say it ain't so

Reasons why I might be pregnant:

*I feel as bloated as an inflatable doll and everything is sore

*I have never-ending gas pains

*Aunt Flow is nine days late

*My stomach growls day and night

*I have very early dates with my bed

*People don’t seem so cute and tolerable these days

*The positive sign appeared on the home test

*The doctor’s office laughed at my request for a test saying, “Honey if you tested positive, you’re pregnant!”

Why do all of these still add up to disbelief? I just don’t believe it, yet!

Thank you, thank you for all of your well wishes and prayers, I think they just might have worked! Alhamdallilah!

9 days late? Oh, you BETTER believe it now. Last symptom that will erase all doubt: smells gradually becoming stronger and more intolerable. If you find out that you can smell people more than you'd care to :p , if frying onions and masalas start to make you gag, if your palms suddenly smell weird, etc. I'm sooo happy for you :)

I always have doubts when I am pregnant. I alway think maybe there is just something wrong with me. I will even have these thoughts after ultrasounds and even after I've felt the baby kicking.

When (insh'allah) I get pregnant, I will have no clue that I am. My PMS is just like pregnancy symptoms and I'm late every single month. Its awful. Pretty much all the symptoms you describe minus the positive testing, I get. I even get nauesea!! I used to freak out and buy a pregnancy test every month the first year we were married. Now I've leraned to ignore the symptoms. LOL..... just you watch because of my (rightful) disbelief at my symptoms, when I'm pregnant I'll probably mosey on over to get my test and learn I'm due in two months :)

But seriously those signs are all big. But the doctor did agree to test you right??

Huh, that's odd, because the doctor's office refused to accept my pregnancy as official until they had a blood test. But you certainly SOUND pregnant!!

Are you happy, darling?

Much much much love

Congratulations!

I just gave birth six and a half weeks ago to my own little adha-desi. One of the things I always wanted was to imagine what our kid would look like. Other multi-cultural couples, like a white American woman & Chinese man, have lots of examples. Just look around any mall. But it’s so rare to see an Indian or Pakistani with a white American spouse, I never really got to imagine it. How dark will there skin be, whose hair color, y'know - things like that.

Well, if you want them, I've got tons of pictures of a half-white-half-brown-Pakistani-and-American boy!

For the record his skin is very lightly brown, his hair is also brown (not black like my husbands) and his eyes are almost black. And he's perfect!

Um Mahtab, I have been so doubtful and went to bed in disbelief again last night. I even feel a "loss of symptome", not so sore or bloated, etc. But, then this morning I woke up and could SMELL everything in the kitchen.

Surviving, I so hear you, I'm not convinced, yet.

Aisha, I was always on time, but also on the pill for a very long time. I hope that this isn't just a really delayed one. But, I took a second pregnancy test yesterday and again positive.

Koonj, I know! I called a second doctor and they told me the same thin, that they only schedule a first exam at 8 weeks and that pregnancy tests are the same anywhere (urine obviously). Arghh!

Baraka, I soak up your generous spirit!

this male finds it humorous that "the positive sign appeared on the home test" is only reason #7. (thus i had to comment).

i have to admit that people havent seemed cute and tolerable to me since i was...oh i dont know...11. and i am very happy to have early dates with the bed. (but as far as i can tell im not pregnant...updates as events warrant).

hope it has started to sink in. best wishes.

I was convinced after my first appointment with the doctor and I heard a heart beat.

The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy is a good book. You might want to check it out like wayfarer suggested.
